Polyphonic Portraits of a New America

  • Wexner Center for the Arts 1871 North High Street Columbus, OH, 43210 United States (map)

“An absolutely staggering work of art.”Los Angeles Times on Now he’s out in public…

Comprising two short films by acclaimed artist Natalie Bookchin, Polyphonic Portraits of a New America is a major work by a deft and innovative artist attuned to the rhythms and tropes of a deeply divided America. Made up entirely of clips from online sources, the intricately edited Now he’s out in public and everyone can see explores questions of racism and racial identity in the post-Obama world, while Long Story Short layers firsthand accounts of poverty using an original multi-image editing technique. (70 mins., DCP)

Later Event: May 12
Pabst Stage: Night 1
